Where Do I File My Divorce if My Spouse and I live in Different Counties?

To get a divorce in California, you or your spouse must have lived in California for the last 6 months and at least 3 months in the county where you are going to file for divorce.

Example: If a Husband and Wife have been living together in Riverside County, California since 2020, and the Wife recently moved to San Bernardino County two months ago, the divorce must be filed in Riverside County. This is because at least one spouse (the Husband) has lived in California for the past 6 months and in Riverside County for at least 3 months.
